Mimpi > A
Balinese word meaning the Dream!! We all have ideas,
thoughts and dreams – that’s
what gets us out of bed every day. But what do
we do with them?
My patent attorney said I needed
a name for it!!! The patent search revealed nothing
like it!!!
But I had never invented anything before!!!
While on the island of Bali in Indonesia surfing this
happened, and my patent attorney needed a name to file
my product under. I wanted to tell a story with it,
and being there was nothing like this product the name
could be whatever I
wanted. I believed Bali was the
magical and correct spot for this. I wanted a name
that
would raise curiousity.
While passing this little hotel
in Kuta Beach I saw the word ‘Mimpi.’ I
asked a Balinese man what it meant in English and he
said ‘the Dream.’ I immediately went to
an internet center and e-mailed my attorney, never
changing my thoughts again. We sometimes wonder why
we travel and adventure, then after we explore another
place we realize and understand all the pure thoughts
and spiritual gains we come home with.
The concept of the Mimpi was
put together by the Small Axe Corp., a group of friends
in the small San Diego beach community of Solana Beach,
California. From its initial conception after a glass
of ice water continuously dripped on my shorts at a
lunch in Las Vegas, to discovering its name through
surfing in Bali, it had simplicity, function, cost-efficiency
and environmental purpose written all over it, as it
was all meant to be. Through many hours, days and weeks
of development, travel, and constant efforts the Mimpi
became clearer and clearer, providing a solution to
a true need for a traveling coaster in the marketplace.
We’ve now utilized our
experiences in sales and marketing to make it more
of an art piece, revealing its re-usability, endless
benefits and marketing power the Mimpi Coaster has
shown through time. Our initial science of materials
came from a surfing background and knowledge
of neoprene,
or wetsuit material. It has absorbtive characteristics,
it’s flexible and works wonderfully to absorb
condensation while keeping drinking vessels from dripping
on items not intended to get wet.
The launch of the Mimpi Coaster
is with neoprene, but our U.S. patented item is protected
internationally as well for any and all materials available,
such as foam, EVA, mold-injected space age materials,
exterior dressings, etc. With time you’ll see
the product evolve further through the exploration
of many types of different materials to achieve the
mission statement we’ve set forth.
Mission Statement >
To swiftly attack condensation from drinking vessels globally, making our product
a norm someday on every type of glass, can and bottle, saving on hundreds
of thousands of wasted napkins and coasters each day.
Legal >
The Mimpi is protected by issued United States and pending foreign patents worldwide.
